Painting the gold pear

Happy Wednesday! Early this week I got to go paint outside of my home studio in a shop close by. I chose a simple subject, and decided I didn't want to overcomplicate, but keep it simple, so I just set it on the ground next to a lamp and had fun!

 Here's my process
I like to start with a sketch and then block in my shadow shapes.

Next I fill in with my mid tones, this is usually my half way point.

Finishing up I add in my lightest lights and darkest darks, helping the form to read better.

So that's my basic process when it comes to painting a still life!

Over all it turned into a fun little study,
Hope you enjoyed the progress pictures as much as I enjoyed painting it!
